AQIM Suffering Financially

According to Douglas Farah, the recent discovery of a downed Boeing aircraft, which apparently had been transporting cocaine, into Mali, where Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) is active, suggests that Latin American drug lords are now collaborating with AQIM.

Whatever truth Farah's thesis may have, AQIM currently faces financial difficulties

The organization is strangled financially, especially in Algeria, and is unable to achieve its goals of recruitment....
